Fun Stuff for Kids
Horizontal Line

Kids, looking for something fun to do? Parents, wondering what to do with the kids this weekend? Wisconsin has plenty of activities and destinations to choose from. Take a day or a weekend to explore, and turn it into an adventure.

Here are a few suggestions to jump start your planning.

Farm Vacations

Children can meet barnyard animals up close and personal, perhaps by holding a bottle of milk for a hungry calf or throwing handfuls of feed to a group of strutting chickens. Families can learn how a modern dairy operation works or help gather eggs in a hen house. These are just some of the activities people can experience on a farm vacation. In addition to learning more about modern-day farming, moms, dads and the kids often enjoy home-cooked meals and benefit from the recommendations of their hosts, who can point out the treasures of the local area.

Wisconsin Waterparks

Wisconsin is home to some of the largest waterparks in the world. Slides, water hoses, fountains, fun centers and more are sure to keep kids busy for hours. Wisconsin Dells has the highest concentration of indoor waterparks, more than 300,000 total square feet of indoor water recreation fun. Other places to visit include the Hilton Milwaukee City Center and the Holiday Inn & Suites of Madison.

Zoos

Take a walk on the wild side. A day at the zoo is always exciting for everyone. Catch a glimpse of an endangered species, see a peacock cross your path or pet and feed animals in the petting zoo area. Zoos also offer workshops, special exhibits, children's activities and more.

Snowboarding

Snowboarding's combination of speed and style creates the perfect mix of fun and excitement for shredders of all ages. And with more than 30 snowboard-friendly destinations throughout the state, Wisconsin is quickly becoming known as one of the best snowboarding destinations in the Midwest. From terrain parks to challenging slopes, a quality boarding experience is just a short drive away.

Horseback Riding

Grab the reins, jump in the saddle and enjoy Wisconsin by horseback. Wisconsin has more than 240 miles of winding trails waiting to be explored, and everyone is encouraged to join in the fun. There are a variety of ways to get back to nature, including trail rides, lessons, hayrides and even pony rides for the kids.

Mountain Biking

Fill your water bottles and put your helmet on. Young and old will enjoy experiencing the state's scenery during a leisurely cruise down a gentle trail or a rolling dirt byway. More advanced riders can take a challenging roller coaster or a ride through the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Whatever your ability, there’s a trail to suit you.

Tubing

Grab the kids and spend a lazy summer day tubing down a river. With the sun beating down, shallow waters, and exhilarating rapids, it’s both relaxing and refreshing.

Children's Museums

For hands-on discovery and exploration, head to a children's museum. “Do not touch” doesn’t apply here. Children are encouraged to touch, feel and learn about what makes the world work. Having a birthday soon? Many museums will coordinate and host birthday parties.
