First Lady Doyle to Celebrate Money Smart Week at Madison West High School

First Lady Jessica Doyle will celebrate Money Smart Week on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Madison West High School in Madison. While there, Mrs. Doyle will attend the Mad City Money Reality Store. Mad City Money is a hands-on stimulation that allows high school students to take on the role of an adult in a futuristic Mad City. Students are given situations and visit stations to build a budget. At the end of the rotation, students visit the credit union to see how the budget balanced. Mrs. Doyle will speak to students as they move through the stations to discuss the importance of financial literacy.

The fourth annual Money Smart Week is October 10 – 17, 2009. Hundreds of educational classes, seminars, and activities will take place around the state and focus on financial topics for all ages. Money Smart Week is sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago & Governor Doyle’s Council on Financial Literacy along with 500 other partner organizations throughout the state.
